Collection: Campitos Turquoise

Campitos Turquoise is mined in Mexico from the Pino Chueco and Cananea mines in Sonora. It was extensively mined in ancient times, with evidence of trade with Native American peoples, and was significant to the Toltecs and Aztecs. Campitos Turquoise is unique because it grows in clay as free-form nuggets rather than veins, typical of many North American turquoises. Its color ranges from light to medium blue, sometimes with pyrite inclusions, and has been produced by the modern mine since the 1980s, making it a favorite for jewelry artisans.
